John Lofstock was named Editor-in-Chief and Vice President of Editorial Operations for The Convenience Store Decisions Group in 2005. He was named the Executive Director of the National Advisory Group (NAG), a convenience store trade association, in 2013.
Prior to joining Convenience Store News, Lofstock, spent eight years as an editor with Convenience Store News in New York City before joining the Oil Price Information Service (OPIS) in 2003 to launch Oil Express Inside, a monthly publication focused on the downstream petroleum and convenience store business.
In his current role as Editor-in-Chief and Vice President, Lofstock oversees a staff of nearly a dozen editors, designers and production managers. While he has been covering the convenience store and petroleum industry for nearly 20 years, he literally grew up in the convenience store and petroleum business. His father was an Exxon dealer in Mount Vernon, N.Y., and he spent two years working for Dairy Mart in the company’s Hudson Valley region.
He also served eight years in the United States Navy’s submarine force in Groton, Conn., and is a decorated veteran of the Gulf War and an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Expeditionary Medal for his service aboard the USS Providence in 1990 and the Navy Good Conduct Medal in 1991.
